The Vancouver Canucks are continuing to look good. They are currently first in their division, second in their conference, and third in the league. They are trailing the Detroit Red Wings by only four points.
Daniel Sedin is leading the way in points with 104; Henrik Sedin isn't far behind with 94 points. Both Sedins have played 82 games. D. Sedin is tied with Ryan Kesler with 41 goals. H. Sedin is leading not only the team, but also the league with assists, having 75 attributed to him this season. D. Sedin is third in the league with 63 assists to his name. David Booth is ahead of the team in shots with 280 shots on goal, putting him 12 in the league. D. Sedin is seven spots down with 266 shots; he is also the top Canuck when it comes to scoring game winning goals with 10.
Stats aside, how are they doing on the ice? They have won five of their last eight games, losing only to Calgary and Detroit, both in shootouts. In fact, six of the last eight games have gone to shootouts. During the 4–3 shootout against Nashville, H. Sedin blocked a point shot with his right ankle; however, he was back for the game against Minnesota on Feb. 9. Chris Higgins was back on the ice Monday Feb. 13 for the morning skate. It was the first time Higgins was on the ice since the game against the Blackhawks on Jan. 31. Keith Ballard is still absent from practises, remaining off-ice with a mystery ailment which has caused him to miss the last two games.
Vancouver will be busy with 11 games in the next three weeks, with the next six keeping them on the road. After that they have a run of seven home games before hitting the road again. Hopefully the team will be back to full-strength for the away games.
Vancouver is looking good on and off the ice. Tim Horton's has recently added a Canucks doughnut to their menu. The doughnut is a cream-filled long john with sprinkles in the Canucks' colours and the Canucks' logo emblazoned on it. So go out, have a doughnut, and support the Canucks.
