On Oct. 21 and 28, Milner Gardens will be hosting fall openings to savour the autumnal scents and crisp colour changes seen on the leaves of plants at the gardens.

The Camellia Tea Room located in the drawing room of the picturesque seaside estate expands its regular hours to offer hot soup and fresh scones.

Geoff Ball, Director of Milner Gardens, says “The old forest and former estate has a magical feel to it, one which refreshes the soul. It is always a good place to come during times of high pressure to reconnect with nature and oneself, an ideal way to recharge for a couple of hours.”

He adds, “we are also always interested in working with [VIU] students and faculty in ways to utilize the various aspects of the site for projects that will help build on the classroom teachings; from old-growth forest, historic gardens and buildings, shoreline, to the events and tourism operation.”

Outside of ticketed events such as concerts, Milner Gardens admission is free to all VIU students.

Ball concludes that in addition to the fall openings, Milner Gardens will be putting on a Christmas light show on the first three weekends in Dec. “These evening openings are a great, fun seasonal outing for students to refresh their minds during the end of

semester rush.”

The gardens and tea room are open from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., with last entry at 2:30 p.m.

Adult admission is $5, non-VIU students $3, plus HST. Admission is free for children 12 and under who are accompanied by adult, as well as to members, and VIU students with a student card.
