Vancouver Island University is celebrating International Development week from February 3-7.
Events will include lectures from guest speakers, presentations on international experiences from students, and a mini-documentary film festival—all at no cost.
Meg Savory, International Grants and Projects Coordinator, says the theme of the conference is “Community Engagement from Global to Local.” In a press release, she also said “This is a wonderful opportunity for VIU to showcase the work our students and faculty are doing both here in our community and internationally.”
VIU’s Worldbridger Film Series will be presenting the film Grow Your Own on February 6 at 7pm in building 356, room 109. The 2007 British film centres on a group of gardeners who become angry with a group of refugees who are given garden allotments in the same space as them, and their journey getting to know each other.
