Missing buttery popcorn? This vegan popcorn seasoning can fill that void. Tasting a bit like cheese-flavoured Doritos, but better, it’s also delicious on kale chips. This batch makes enough for one cup of unpopped popcorn (or more, depending on how coated you want your kernels).
1/3 cup nutritional yeast flakes*
1 tsp ground cumin
1 tsp ground paprika
1 tsp chili powder
1 tsp salt
2 tsp onion powder
1 tbsp oil, or to taste
1 cup unpopped popcorn
Grind the yeast, cumin, paprika, chili, salt, and onion powder together in a spice grinder, blender, or with a spoon. Once your popcorn is popped, stir in the oil with a large spoon. Sprinkle about one tablespoon of spice mixture and stir to coat. If you want a thicker coating, add more oil and repeat. Make sure to scoop up any powder that settles at the bottom of the bowl.
